Description

About Join us in our Sandra and William H. Speiden auditorium for a presentation by David Cubbage, VDOT engineer and professional surveyor, on the first recorded land survey by George Washington. George Washington's first professional survey as the official Surveyor of Culpeper County was a 400-acre tract for Richard Barnes on July 22, 1749. The survey was recently rediscovered and its modern-day location in Brandy Station, Virginia, was identified by David Cubbage. Washington completed the 400-acre survey on Flat Run just two days after being sworn into office. The presentation will begin promptly at 3pm and the Society's annual business meeting will immediately follow.
